David studeerde aan de Royal School of Church Music en de Tanwood Theatre School, en behaalde een BA(Hons) aan City University.
Zijn acteercarrière beslaat inmiddels meer dan 39 jaar. Hij speelde in producties in het West End, in musicals en toneelstukken, en trad daarnaast op tijdens tournees en concerten. Tot zijn credits behoren Cats, Dirty Blonde, Les Miserables, Blood Brothers, Starlight Express, When Pigs Fly, Party, Crazy for You, Saucy Jack and the Space Vixens, La Cage aux Folles, Seven Brides for Seven Brothers, My Fair Lady, Me and My Girl en Ziegfeld. Ook regisseerde en speelde hij in meer dan 20 pantomimes, en werkte hij door het hele Verenigd Koninkrijk, naast periodes waarin hij in Parijs, Turijn en Monaco woonde en werkte.
Als freelance theatermaker en docent is hij momenteel verbonden aan The Royal Academy of Music en geeft hij privé-zanglessen, zowel in Londen, Parijs als online. Daarnaast werkte hij uitgebreid aan The Royal Central School of Speech and Drama, ArtsEd, London College of Music, London Studio Centre, Millennium Performing Arts, The Oxford School of Drama, Bath Academy of Musical Theatre en Accademia Dello Spettacolo in Turijn, Italië.
David was medeoprichter en trustee van Read College, nieuwe voorstelbeoordelaar voor Methuen Drama en is momenteel examencurriculumconsulent voor de ABRSM.
Meer recent creëerde en regisseerde hij Grief Chorus in 2022 en 2024 voor Complicité, The Threepenny Opera voor de Royal Central School of Speech and Drama, en een reeks producties in het Wyvern Theatre in Swindon, waaronder Sleeping Beauty, Annie, Cinderella, The Little Mermaid, Snow White, The Wizard of Oz, Beauty and the Beast, Legally Blonde, Jack and the Beanstalk, Chitty, Chitty Bang, Bang en Summer Holiday. Ook regisseerde hij Rapunzel in The Theatre in Chipping Norton, dat werd genomineerd voor Best Pantomime 2021/2022 bij de UK Pantomime Association Awards, en Aladdin in het White Rock Theatre in Hastings. Verdere credits zijn The Sound of Musicals in het Teatro Murialdo in Turijn voor de seizoenen 2018, 2022, 2023 en 2025, Bad Girls voor London College of Music, de muzikale leiding van Coram Boy aan The Royal Central School of Speech and Drama, en pre-productieconsultancy voor Il Piccolo Principe, Musicanti di Brema en The Selfish Giant voor Mario Restagno aan Accademia Dello Spettacolo in Turijn, Italië.
